Wrong-Way Driver Kills Self in Tuesday Crash on Beltway 8, SW Houston

People first noticed the wrong-way driver in a red car traveling between 70 and 80 mph around Beltway 8 and Highway 290. The wrong-way driver was reportedly traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of Beltway 8.
Authorities set out some spike strips at Westheimer to try and stop the wrong-way driver, but the spike strips didn't faze the red car. The wrong-way driver continued until colliding with a pickup truck on Beltway 8 near the Beechnut exit. The injured occupants of the pickup truck needed rescue workers to extract them after the car crash. They received transport to the hospital for their injuries. The wrong-way driver of the red car suffered fatal injuries n the accident.
