Wear Your Evidence: NY DWI Driver's Shirt States, "I'm a Drunk"
Posted on Nov 24, 2011
Our DWI accident lawyers wanted to pass along this tale of a man who must have really wanted to get caught for DWI. Kevin Daly, 22, an unemployed man from Coram in Suffolk County, NY first drove his vehicle into a police car. Then when the police got a look at him, they found him wearing a shirt that said:
I'm not an alcoholic.
I'm a drunk.
Alcoholics go to meetings.
Talk about making a DWI arrest easy on the police. Step 1: Drive up to the police car.
Step 2: Advertise your drunken state on your T-shirt. At least when people see the mug shot, they'll know why you were being booked.
The officer inside the wrecked police car received treatment for minor injuries. Kevin Daly received an arrest and booking on DWI charges. He was held on $10,000 bond, and received several traffic citations.
Our DWI accident lawyers take this opportunity to remind you: don't drive drunk. Don't let your friends, loved ones, or acquaintances drive drunk either. Driving drunk can be deadly to DWI drivers and their accident victims alike.
And even if you're stone cold sober, don't wear the T-shirt featured above when you're driving. Should any accident occur, we suspect you'd have a hard time overcoming a presumption that you're not quite sober.
