Honda (Honda Motor Co Ltd) has expanded an already large recall of certain model Honda and Acura motor vehicles because of an unsafe airbag system. Instead of protecting vehicle occupants as designed this issue can cause severe injuries or even fatalities. Here is more information:

Problem is the airbags may deploy with too much pressure.

Broader recall adds 833,000 cars for the model years 2001 through 2003

The over-pressured deployment causes the inflator casing to rupture.

Following cars included:

2001 and 2002 Honda Accord
2001 and 2002 Honda Civic
2002 Honda Odyssey
2002 and 2003 Honda CR-V
2002 and 2003 Acura 3.2 TL
2003 Acura 3.2 CL

The recall includes some 2001 and 2002 Accord and Civic sedans, 2002 Odyssey minivans and 2002 and 2003 CR-V crossover vehicles. It also includes 2002 and 2003 Acura 3.2 TL and 2003 3.2 CL vehicles.
