Two girls, ages 13 and 16, died at the scene of a two-vehicle car accident. The police reported that the collision happened when a man driving a silver Toyota northbound on the Eastex Freeway service road ran a red light at approximately 1:30 a.m. on July 9. The Toyota crashed into a Ford SUV that was traveling eastbound with seven passengers.
Upon impact with the Toyota, the two teenage girls in the SUV were thrown from the vehicle. One other passenger sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The police believe that the driver of the Toyota may have been drunk.
