Two Injured When SUV Collides With Houston Fire Truck
Posted on Dec 02, 2010
Two people were injured today when a SUV collided with a fire truck in the Montrose area. The accident occurred at about 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
The driver of a Chevy Tahoe, a 36-year-old pregnant woman, pulled from Haddon into the 2000 block of Dunlavy, only to find herself in the direct path of a Houston Fire Department truck.
The two vehicles collided, sending the Chevrolet into a yard across the street. Fire fighters jumped from the truck in order to help the woman, according to witnesses.
"They got in there fast," Melissa Stephens told the Chronicle. "They jumped out and did what they were supposed to do. They did a great job."
The woman in the SUV was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital-Texas Medical Center along with one of the firefighters on the truck. Both were treated for non life-threatening injuries.
Police are still conducting an investigation into the crash. However, the woman will likely be cited for her failure to yield the right of way.
Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this accident. We are glad that none were more seriously injured.
