Posted on Apr 09, 2011
One woman is dead, another injured after a single-vehicle motorcycle accident near Brookeland, TX on Monday. The accident happened at about 6:30 on Highway 96.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Dustin Ramos, two women were riding southbound on a late model Honda Goldwing trike, essentially a three-wheeled motorcycle, when the bike suddenly veered off the left side of the highway and hit a tree.
Angela Reppond, 41, was taken to Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital in Jasper with unknown injuries. Police are also unsure whether she was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and if she was riding or driving.
Another woman, who has not yet been identified by police, died at the scene despite the fact that she was wearing a helmet. The woman was pronounced dead by Sabine County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Jamie Brasher.
Our sympathies go out to all of those that have been affected by this tragic accident. We hope more information about the wreck surfaces soon, and urge everyone to drive safely.
