Texas Motorcycle Accident Kills Former Flint Police Officer

49-year-old Drake Sparks was pronounced dead on the scene, last Thursday morning after being involved in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 59.
Sparks, a retired police officer was traveling southbound around 7:40 a.m.. According to witnesses, the motorcycle was traveling much too fast to stop when the Yamaha Roadstar motorcycle swerved into the emergency lane, then back into the right lane.
The motorcycles footbars struck the ground, throwing the bike off balance and consequently ejecting the driver. Sparks, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash died upon impact. Police are still investigating the accident. There were no other vehicles involved.
