San Jacinto College Soccer Player Dies in Houston Car Wreck

A Houston car crash on the early morning of September 13th lead to the death of a freshman San Jacinto College soccer player.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., 18-year-old Jose Perez and three of his soccer teammates were on their way to practice on the South Campus. Perez was seated in the rear of the BMW, on the passenger side.
The driver of the BMW, who was heading south on Beamer Road, allegedly disregarded a red light at the intersection with Astria. A Honda struck the side of the BMW, causing it to flip.
Perez, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, sustained fatal injuries. The other occupants in the BMW sustained minor injuries and were not hospitalized.
The driver of the Honda was also taken to the hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Jose Perez, of Houston, was expecting his first child. His coach and teammates mourn the loss of their friend and teammate.
