Report reveals Fbg city worker had drugs in his blood at time of wreck

Posted on Feb 15, 2012

Clear Lake truck accident attorneys note that toxicology results have come back on a Fredericksburg, VA city worker that drove a dump truck into a house on Halloween. The toxicology report reveals that the worker had marijuana and PCP in his blood at the time of the accident.

The Halloween dump truck accident extensively damaged several vehicles as well as the house in which the dump truck finally came to a halt. Driver Ricardo Edwards, 32, sideswiped a pickup truck during a left turn. A tow truck carried the heavily damaged pickup truck from the scene. But the dump truck continued on to hit a parked Subaru, pushing it up over a sidewalk. Then the dump truck plowed through the large window of a house, coming to rest in the living room of the home.

The home's owner was away at the time of the accident. Our Clear Lake truck accident attorneys note that his dog Maxie was present. Maxie was no doubt puzzled by the new addition to the living room décor. The chain of accidents flattened the dump truck's tires, and it had to be towed from the living room. The house received substantial damage and reportedly can't be occupied until repairs are made.

Following the weird accident, police obtained a search warrant to test the city worker's blood for narcotics. Toxicology tests may take weeks to be completed, and the results from the city worker's test only came out last week. Ricardo Edwards was arrested during a traffic stop on Friday on a warrant dating from the Halloween dump truck accident. News accounts stated that as of Friday, he was no longer employed by the City of Fredericksburg.

Our Clear Lake truck accident attorneys mention this news item as another illustration of the heavy damage that can be inflicted by a wayward dump truck. Dump trucks, due to their high centers of gravity over relatively narrow wheelbases, and the shifting loads they carry, are prone to rollovers and accidents even when driven by experienced and sober drivers. Piloted by drivers on drugs, the results of s dump truck accident can be catastrophic. Entire buildings might be damaged.
