Red Light Runner in Manor, TX Clips School Bus on Bridge, Injuring Kids

A Manor I.S.D. school bus went partway over a bridge on Wednesday morning around 8:30 a.m. when a white car, southbound on the SH 130 feeder road, ran a red light. The white car rear-ended the bus, eastbound on 290 at the time of that frightening wreck caused by the red light runner. The white car clipped the bus on the engine area and sent it spinning onto the bridge at U.S. Highway 290 and State Highway 130.
The car impact left the bus with one wheel dangling off the bridge, and completely wrecked the white car. Four students on the school bus went to the hospital with minor injuries. Paramedics checked the bus driver for injuries at the scene.
Andrew Kim, Superintendent of Manor I.S.D., commended the school bus driver for the quick reactions and awareness that kept the school bus from going completely over the bridge from the sudden impact. According to news reports, police questioned the driver of the white car. But news stories contained no further information regarding the results of those queries.
The school bus wreck led to a second sort of accident when the tow truck sent to pull it back onto the road suffered a hydraulic fluid leak. Crews worked to clean up the spill while a second tow truck was called to complete the job.
