Posted on Nov 02, 2011
The Harris County accident attorneys of Denena & Points were saddened to learn of the fatal accident between a pizza delivery vehicle and a bicyclist in NE Harris County on Halloween night. Our sympathies and condolences go out to the family and friends of Russell Brandon, the unfortunate victim of the tragic accident. Our sympathies go out too to the traumatized driver who hit the bicyclist on the darkened, rural road.
News accounts say that the accident occurred around 8 p.m. on an unlit stretch of Huffman Cleveland near FM 2100. Harris County Sheriff's deputies say that Mr. Brandon, 58, was westbound on Huffman Cleveland on his motorized bicycle when the 19-year-old driver of a 1987 Ford Mustang, delivering pizza for Big B Pizzeria, came upon Mr. Brandon's bicycle.
Investigators say it appeared that the driver struck Mr. Brandon from behind without ever seeing the bicycle, but further investigation is underway to determine if alcohol or speeding were factors in the wreck. Reportedly poor visibility on the unlit road definitely contributed to causing the bicycle/car wreck. The teenaged pizza delivery driver stayed with Mr. Brandon at the scene of the accident until help could arrive.
News accounts say that Mr. Brandon perished instantly from his injuries from the car impact. Russell Brandon, who hailed from Scotland before settling in the Lone Star State, was the father of 11 children and a frequent cyclist on the rural road that formed the scene of the tragic, fatal accident.
