One Killed, One Injured in Houston Car Accident

Posted on Sep 24, 2010

One person is dead and another is injured after a car-pedestrian accident in Houston, TX. The accident occurred on September 14th around 8:30pm.

According to Houston Police, the driver of a white Chevrolet Express van was headed north on Old Galveston Road, at the 9500 block, when he struck two pedestrians.

The two pedestrians involved in the accident -- 29 and 31 years old -- were walking on the east shoulder of the road when they were hit. One of them, whose identity has not yet been released, was killed. The other sustained only minor injuries, and was taken to Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital.

The driver of the van was held and questioned at the scene of the accident, but not charged. An investigation into the wreck is still ongoing, though alcohol is not thought to be involved.

Our sympathies go out to all of those involved in this accident. We hope all Houston, TX residents use caution walking or driving on our local roadways.
