Nissan recalls some U.S. 2011 & 2012 cars for weak engine connector bolts
Posted on Dec 28, 2011
Lake Jackson car defect lawyer passes along news of an important recall you might need to know about. Nissan is recalling several 2011 and 2012 models for a dangerous defect that could lead to crashes and injuries. The Nissan recall affects certain of the following vehicles:
2011 Infiniti FX
2012 Infiniti M
2011 - 2012 Nissan Frontier
2011 - 2012 Nissan Xterra
2011 - 2012 Nissan Pathfinder
2012 Nissan NV
The reason for the Nissan recall is that some of the bolts that connect the engine with the engine oil cooler and the oil filter might have been manufactured to a substandard strength. The weak bolts could break at the oil filter attachment point and cause an oil leak. An oil leak would lead the engine oil pressure to drop. The oil pressure drop could cause the engine to seize up and the vehicle to crash.
Nissan says that it will notify affected vehicle owners of the problem and that its dealers will replace the connector bolts free of charge. If you own one of the vehicles subject to the Nissan recall, you can contact Nissan customer service at 800-647-7261.
