Large Truck Topples Over on 59 Near Houston

A big rig tanker toppled over on U.S. 59 this week, causing road closures and an extensive cleanup. The accident occurred at about 10 p.m. on Monday, October 25th.
The 18-wheeler was traveling north on 59 in Rosenburg, near Spur 529, when it slid out of control and tipped onto its side. The contents of the truck, reportedly tar, spilled onto the highway.
Officials do not yet know what caused the accident, or why the cargo spilled onto the highway. It is also not known if driver error was involved in the wreck, or if it was unavoidable.
U.S. 59 was closed for hours while police investigated the crash and cleanup was conducted. The truck is owned by Trout Trucking in Corpus Christi.
