Houston Motorist Killed While Exchanging Information on Freeway Shoulder

Tragedy struck Friday as a man was lawfully parked on the shoulder of US 290 in northwest Houston after a minor traffic incident. The man, whose identity has not been released, was exchanging insurance information with the driver of another vehicle when his Saturn was struck from behind by an 18-wheeler that appears to have veered onto the shoulder.

The 18-wheeler driver was taken into custody by the Houston Police Department on arrest warrants.
