Posted on Jan 15, 2012
A horrific Houston accident between a METRORail train and a woman standing in the tracks was probably unavoidable. Friday night around 7:30 p.m. the driver of a METRORail train southbound on Main Street in Houston spotted a woman standing in the tracks. Train operators sounded the train's horn, but reportedly the woman did not or could not leave the tracks.
The METRORail train driver was unable to stop in time to avoid an accident and the woman was trapped beneath the train at Main and Polk. After being freed from underneath the train, the woman received transport to Memorial Herman hospital in serious but stable condition. News accounts state the METRORail train driver will not face charges for the unavoidable accident.
