Houston Deputy Injured in Rear-End Crash

A Houston Sheriff's Department deputy was injured in a 2-vehicle crash this week in Harris County, Texas. The wreck happened around 2 a.m. on Wednesday on Beltway 8 westbound.

The deputy, whose name has not yet been released, was driving in a squad car to assist another deputy when he slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer truck. The car's lights and sirens were not on at the time.

The deputy was trapped in the car for nearly an hour, until firefighters used the Jaws of Life to free him. He was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital - Texas Medical Center with two broken legs.
