Honda recalls 347,000 Pilot SUVs for Dangerous Front Seat Belt Flaw
Honda issued a recall announcement for almost 347,000 of its Pilot SUVs worldwide. The recall results from a stitching flaw on the front seat belt webbing. The recalled Pilot SUVs from model years 2009 through 2011 were built in Lincoln, Alabama. A manufacturing error caused the stitching connecting the lap section of the front seat belts to the outboard anchor webbing to be missing or incomplete. This stitching flaw could cause the front seat belts to become detached from the anchor webbing in the event of a car accident. This could increase your risk of vehicle ejection, injury or death in a Clear Lake, TX car accident. Honda said that it did not know of any injuries or deaths related to the front seat belt stitching flaw. The Japanese automaker said it would begin notifying affected Pilot SUV owners in writing in early October.
If you own a Honda Pilot SUV affected by the front seat belt stitching flaw, be sure to take advantage of the recall and get your SUV repaired by Honda. A secure, complete and properly operating seat belt is possibly the most important piece of safety equipment in your vehicle if you're in a car accident. Especially in a Clear Lake, TX accident like an SUV rollover, a properly working seat belt could save your life.
