Fiery Tollway Crash on N. Sam Houston Parkway Claims 2 Drivers' Lives

Posted on Oct 15, 2011

Fiery truck wreck

North Sam Houston Parkway at the North Toll Plaza near Antoine formed the scene of a fiery fatal wreck between a big rig and an SUV around 2:15 a.m. Friday morning. A Ford Expedition driven by Alexandria Collins-Flores, 19, was stopped at the unmanned tollbooth while she paid the toll. A tractor-trailer truck westbound on the tollway, driven by Michael Winfield, 45, struck a concrete barrier on approach to the tollbooth, went briefly airborne, landed on the SUV, and both vehicles exploded into flames.

The fiery tollway crash sadly claimed the lives of both Alexandria Collins-Flores and Michael WInfield. These two vehicle drivers suffered fatal injuries in the fiery fatal wreck.

The fiery tollway crash between the tractor-trailer and the SUV damaged parts of the toll plaza. All westbound lanes of Sam Houston Parkway near Antoine were closed while firefighters put out the blaze, authorities investigated the fiery fatal wreck, and workers cleared the scene of the burned wreckage and debris. Three EZ Tag lanes were later opened to drivers at no charge to help alleviate the traffic delays caused by the fiery tollway crash.

The staff at the firm of Denena and Points conveys our heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, and associates of Alexandria Collins-Flores and Michael Winfield, the two victims of this horrific fatal crash. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of distress.
