CPSC Recalls Arctic Cat XC 450 ATVs Due to Tie Rod Crash Hazard
Posted on Dec 06, 2011
The CPSC recall notice says that steering tie rod on the recalled Arctic Cat ATVs can bend. The bent tie rod causes loss of control of the vehicle and can lead to a crash. The recall says that Arctic Cat has received three reports of bent tie rods, but no injuries were reported.
The recalled ATVs include all 2011 Arctic Cat XC 450 ATVs and some of the 2012 XC 450s. You can identify a defective, recalled XC 450 ATV by the last six numbers in the VIN (vehicle identification number). The recalled numbers include 6V0101 through 6V0178 and 700101 through 700230. You can find the ATV's VIN on the lower front frame tube under the front bumper.
The CPSC warns those affected by the product defect recall to stop using the Arctic Cat XC 450 ATVs immediately because of the dangerous crash hazard. The CPSC also mentions that it's illegal to attempt to resell a recalled product. ATV owners affected by the recall can contact an Arctic Cat ATV dealer in their area to schedule a free repair. You can also contact Arctic Cat at 800-279-6851.
