Car Lands in House After Galveston Wreck
Posted on Jul 07, 2011
A two-car crash in Galveston, TX last week left two cars damaged, the second propelled under the porch of a nearby house. The wreck happened shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday.
According to police, a green Ford Expedition was traveling southbound on Ninth Street when the driver failed to yield the right of way in an intersection to a Chevy Impala traveling east on Broadway.
"The green Expedition failed to yield right of way to the traffic on Broadway," Galveston police officer Robert Sanderson said. "And the vehicles struck, causing the Chevrolet Impala to travel into the house."
Two people were injured in the crash. They were both taken to the University of Texas Medical Branch with non-life threatening injuries. Eastbound lanes of Broadway were closed for about an hour after the crash.
The Impala took out an entire brick column on the house's porch. Police had to wait for the porch to be supported before authorizing the car to be towed away, in order to prevent additional damage.
Our thoughts go out to all of those affected in this crash. We are glad that no one was more gravely injured, and we hope any conflicts are resolved quickly.
