Car Fire Kills a Driver

At approximately 5 a.m. on June 15, 2010, a two-vehicle car wreck between resulted in the death of one driver and injuries to another driver. The car wreck occurred on the 610 South Loop near the 3900 block.

The driver of a Nissan Versa crashed into a Honda Accord while trying to exit at Stella Link. The police report that although the Accord was in a moving lane, it was not moving. Upon impact with the other vehicle, the Honda burst into flames. Once firefighters were able put the fire out, they discovered the body of the driver inside. The driver of the Nissan was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital for treatment of an apparent broken arm.

Car wrecks can cause car fires. In some cases, a car fire is the result of a defective vehicle part or a design flaw. Car fires can be caused by inappropriate placement of the fuel tank or by the use of cheap materials to construct the fuel tank.
