Biker Dies When Possibly DWI Rockport, TX Salesman Rear-Ends Motorcycle

Samuel Loy Tramell, 25, died Friday night in a collision when a car rear-ended his 2001 Yamaha motorcycle. A Rockport salesman, 30, came up behind Mr. Tramell's northbound bike in a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero at a higher rate of speed. The Rockport salesman failed to notice the motorcycle, and rear-ended the bike on State Highway 35 just a mile north of Rockport.
The force of the impact threw Mr. Tramell onto the pavement, and sent his 2001 Yamaha sliding across the southbound lane of the highway into the brush. The Oldsmobile stopped on the shoulder of the roadway.
A Justice of the Peace pronounced Mr. Tramell, of Ingleside, dead at the scene of the rear-end motorcycle collision. The Rockport salesman received treatment for neck and shoulder injuries at the scene. He was then released in stable condition.
Trooper Robert Brown, who responded to the scene of the rear-end motorcycle collision, indicated that authorities are investigating a possible intoxication manslaughter charge in relation to the accident.
