2-Car Collision Sends Car Careening into Galveston Law Firm Building
Posted on Aug 16, 2011
Friday, August 12, 2011 saw an unusual car accident at 10th Street and Broadway in Galveston. Two cars crashed together in East End Galveston. The force of the impact propelled one of the cars into a nearby law office. Three people suffered injuries from the Galveston car accident. Fortunately none of the injuries were critical, though the accident victims were probably pretty shaken up by the event. The attorney whose office became an open-air drive-through had that particular day off.
The news report doesn't mention the accident insurance status of the cars' drivers or passengers. But it's more likely than not in a local two-car collision that at least one party has insurance that will cover the damages from the car wreck. The lawyer that owns the law office building mentions that her building carries coverage for damages.
Lawyers talk about car accidents and their consequences all the time. But it's fairly rare that a car accident actually wrecks our offices. This unusual car accident provides a solid reminder of the importance of accident insurance coverage. Even in car accidents where the other driver is uninsured, if you carry "uninsured motorist coverage" on your own policy, you may be able to obtain compensation for your accident damages (up to the coverage limit you have chosen). In most accident claims, it's ultimately an insurer like Geico, Nationwide or State Farm that pays you for your injuries, rather than the defendant who actually caused your losses. Indeed, several insurers are probably already at work tabulating the losses from this particular Galveston car accident.
