2 new Houston chain reaction injury accidents involving school buses

Posted on Jan 26, 2012

The Houston accident attorneys at Denena & Points were alarmed to hear of two more chain reaction injury accidents involving school buses in recent days. We wonder if the inclement weather might have been a factor in the chain of chain reaction wrecks. According to news reports, Houston experienced two chain reaction injury accidents involving school buses on Tuesday.

KHOU reported an 8 a.m. wreck in NE Houston Tuesday morning. According to the news account, Humble I.S.D. officials said that a vehicle ran into a car carrying 3 Atascocita High School students. The impact pushed their car into the back of a school bus by West Lake Houston at Breakwater Path. The school bus carried Woodcreek Middle School students.

The 3 Atascocita High School students received transport to the hospital with minor injuries, but none of the Middle School students received injuries. No details were provided on the occupant(s) of the vehicle that slammed into the High School students' car.

Then later that day in SE Houston, 2 Houston reported that around 5 p.m. on Scott by Southlawn, another school bus chain reaction injury accident occurred. Reportedly, the school bus driver stopped because a vehicle in front of the bus had stopped. Then a pickup truck ran into a car ahead of it. The impact pushed the car into the school bus.

HPD personnel said that 14 students, some from Pershing Middle School, were on the school bus at the time of the crash. At least 4 received transport to the hospital for injuries, and other students were medically evaluated at the scene of the accident. 3 people in a car that formed part of the chain reaction injury accident also received transport to the hospital.

Our Houston accident attorneys convey our sincere wishes for quick and safe recoveries by all of those who were injured in these alarming chain reaction wrecks. Our concern and our prayers are with the students and their parents as they cope with the injuries and trauma of the accidents. We understand that experiencing a wreck while in an environment like a school bus that one likes to see as particularly safe is often difficult and tends to shake up one's worldview a bit.

We urge drivers to slow down in inclement weather and take particular care in wet road conditions when visibility might be limited and it takes longer to stop a vehicle. Students in their school buses and private vehicles on their ways to or from school might be counting on your extra care and precaution.
