18-wheeler slams into pillar on U.S. I-10 & shuts down Katy freeway

An 18-wheeler ran into a pillar on eastbound I-10 just west of downtown Houston around 2:30 a.m. on Monday. The fiery truck wreck on eastbound I-10 near Taylor led to the shutdown of all lanes of I-10 through much of Monday's morning rush hour as crews worked to rescue accident victims, investigate the crash, and clear the scene of the 18-wheeler wreck.
Two victims of the fiery truck wreck were rushed to the hospital with injuries. The victims' names and details on their injuries and conditions were not released. News accounts did not contain word regarding whether driver fatigue, driver distraction, the weather, DWI, or some other cause may have been behind the fiery truck wreck.
