I have seen more double-trailer trucks on Houston's highways lately. Do these trucks pose a greater risk to other drivers?

A:

Yes. While larger trucks are good for the trucking companies because they carry more cargo with the same amount of fuel, they also pose a serious risk to Houston, TX-area residents.

The facts are simple: larger trucks cause more truck accidents. Double-trailer trucks are 32 percent more likely to be involved in fatal accidents than smaller trucks, and 200 percent more likely to be involved in interstate highway crashes.

There's a good argument to be made for larger trucks. However, the safety of other drivers on our road, who may be injured in a serious Houston truck accident, should also be heavily considered in the debate.
