U.S. NHTSA announces important safety recall on KIA Optima & KIA Rondo

Pearland, TX safety defect lawyers notify readers that the NHTSA's safety recall announcement relates to the 2006 to 2008 KIA Optima and the 2007 to 2008 KIA Rondo. KIA Motors America, Inc. states that the safety recall of more than 145,000 KIA vehicles covers KIA Optimas manufactured from September 29, 2005 through January 28, 2008 and KIA Rondos manufactured from September 13, 2006 through March 21, 2008.

The focus of the KIA safety recall is the clock spring contact assembly of the driver's side frontal air bag. The clock spring contact assembly for the air bag's supplemental restraint system, or SRS, might become damaged over time through usage. If such damage occurs, the air bag's electrical circuit could experience a high resistance to deployment. This means that your airbag would not deploy when you need it in the event of a crash. This failure to deploy would leave you vulnerable to potentially fatal injury.

KIA said that it would notify affected vehicle owners and that its dealers would replace the clock spring assembly free of charge as necessary. Concerned vehicle owners can contact KIA at 800-333-4542; the KIA recall campaign number is SC094.

Our Pearland safety defect lawyers bring the KIA recall to your attention so that if you own one of the affected vehicles, you can be sure to obtain repair of the dangerous defect before it causes you to suffer unnecessary injuries in a crash. Vehicle owners like to believe that when they research a vehicle and pay thousands of dollars to purchase it, they are getting a car that will protect them in the event of a crash with all of the safety features that modern technology affords. But as the extensive list of recalls announced by the NHTSA shows, such is not the case.

Modern vehicles are sophisticated pieces of equipment, with many complex parts and intricate assemblies. So many thousands of defective vehicles can roll off the assembly line containing small, but dangerous defects of which no one is aware until they injure or kill someone. Design, assembly and manufacturing processes change so quickly that they often can't keep up with your safety needs. And most vehicle defects aren't discovered and safety recalls aren't announced until a sufficient number of accidents, injuries, and/or fatalities have made the defect evident.

If you've been injured by a vehicle defect or you've lost a family member to a safety defect, you deserve recompense for your losses. The law provides remedies by which you can hold manufacturers of defective vehicles financially accountable for your pain and loss. Contact our dedicated Pearland, TX safety defect lawyers today for a free consultation to discuss your injury. We could help you win a full financial recovery on your valid claim.
