Tickets might not be your only penalty for reckless driving in Houston
News reports noticed by our Houston injury attorneys described a traffic fatality yesterday in SE Houston, TX that could be attributed to an extreme case of road rage. Someone in a Dodge that was behind a Buick careening in and out of lanes took offense and shot the reckless Buick driver to death. The passenger in the Buick was unharmed by the 10 shots that fatally injured the offending driver in SE Houston. The driver's offense: swanggin in and out of lanes.
When a driver chooses to drive recklessly and endanger himself and others, he might think about the possibilities of having a wreck or of getting a ticket. He usually doesn't expect that an occupant of a vehicle he has cut off will just up and shoot him. It doesn't happen often; but clearly it does happen.
The problem of road rage has gained increasing attention over the last couple of decades. Even drivers who start out on their journeys in a perfectly good state of mind can be driven to rage by the thoughtless, reckless, and dangerous actions of offensive drivers. In the United States, a surprising number of those enraged folks might have loaded guns in their vehicles within easy reach. And some of them just might look for the easy solution to the problem, and shoot the offending drivers.
As we start another new year, it seemed a good time for our Houston injury attorneys to remind drivers of the unexpected dangers you might encounter on the roads out there, and how you might avoid some of them. One way to avoid some of the dangers is to drive courteously and respectfully. Avoid causing the road rage that could make you a statistic. Drive respectfully and increase your chances of ringing in additional new years to come.
