Governments Should Enforce the Laws to Protect Your Safety in Texas
You may have just seen the news of another illegal immigrant who plowed into a vehicle on W. Sam Houston Parkway in a speeding car and killed a local citizen. This illegal immigrant, Juan Ivan Olivarez of course did not posses a valid driver's license or the required liability insurance.
You may not be aware that the U.S. government has essentially sent down orders that local governments are not to enforce our immigration laws. When the U.S. government chooses to turn a blind eye to illegal immigration and fails to enforce immigration laws, that basically means that untold numbers of illegal immigrants are actively crossing our borders with impunity. After they arrive, fatal road crashes and other crimes often follow. Government abandonment of the rule of law is no way to encourage either public safety or public obedience to the law.
Some say that the solution is simply to provide amnesty to all of these people who have ignored and violated U.S. and local laws. But you may have noticed that amnesty leads to even greater lack of respect for the law and even further violations of it. Would the family of Roger Jones, who was so callously killed by Juan Olivarez, like to see that reckless driver given amnesty for his crimes? They are already left without much recourse for their tragic injury by his lack of insurance.
Our U.S. government and many of our local governments often seem to turn a blind eye to crime to our detriment. They even seem to actively encourage some violations of the law, like illegal immigration, as a matter of policy. You can probably see how such policy threatens your safety. Until our governments begin to show some respect for our laws and for the constituents who elected our officials, your safety remains in peril.
