Austin, 6th Street, Alcohol, and Texas DUI Fatalities

Austin's 6th Street Forms the Heart of the City's Entertainment District, and Possibly the Heart of Its DUI District as Well

News accounts recently reported a fatal DUI accident that killed the passenger of a thoroughly intoxicated driver. The passenger, Christopher Johnson Peart, was thrown from the car and fatally injured when the driver plowed into a delivery truck. The driver, Erica Lynn Nash-Wood, admitted to police that she was so wasted that she had no idea where on 6th Street she'd been drinking.

TABC has joined the Austin Police Department in the effort to track down the venue where Erica Nash-Wood became so dangerously drunk that she later sacrificed her passenger to intoxication. Perhaps her passenger was a friend; the report does not say. TABC has some work ahead. 6th Street is home to a seemingly endless string of bars, clubs, music venues, and other entertainment destinations.

If TABC can find the venue that violated Texas Dram Shop Laws by serving an already drunk Erica Nash-Wood additional alcohol, then let her drive away, TABC can begin enforcement actions against that venue. It could suspend or revoke the venue's liquor license or impose hefty fines.

But TABC enforcement actions do little to directly help the victims of a fatal DUI accident. For that, you need the help of a skilled Texas DUI liability lawyer. At Denena and Points, we're dedicated DUI liability lawyers who have made it a professional mission to help the suffering victims and grieving family members left in the wake of Texas DUI accidents. For more than 12 years, we've been helping injured victims harmed by Texas DUI accidents to obtain justice.

We could help you hold the DUI defendant financially accountable for the grievous harm that so changed your life. We could help you hold the venue that served the DUI defendant excessive amounts of alcohol financially accountable for negligence through a strong civil court claim.

We're experienced negotiators and specialized personal injury trial attorneys. Our case results show a level of commitment to successful client outcomes that you wouldn't find elsewhere. So, if you need help after being harmed by a DUI accident, call us. We'd be glad to help you any way we legally could.

It's great to know about alcohol and DUI facilities. It is really more innovative today.
